DANCER FOR MIDWINTER. She has walked the long hoop through the curving trail of many thousand years. She is what is held safe within the trap. Young eyes watch through old year’s face hung loose across her own; and the blood of age melts slowly. Her dance is a return, a doorway again entered, a loop made out of time. She dances at a still point, life inside of death, gold beneath cold black, motionless beside the silent in-breath of Midwinter.
