This painting has just been published in a new edition, having sold one thousand copies since her last printing. The new version is slightly smaller but arrives flat with a backing board. Old Silverhead no longer exists in her original form – the huge painting snapped through one side of her hair while being transported rather precariously on the roof of a car on the way to an exhibition in 1999. But her hair was trimmed and the painting still lives in Carolyn’s studio.
Original painting: 8 ft/240 cms wide and 4 ft/120 cms high, acrylic on board, painted in 1998.
Print: made on 300 gms art card, unmounted, cellophane wrapped with backing board, print titled. Print size: 20 cms x 38 cms (excluding border).
This image accompanies the album OLD SILVERHEAD: Songs and Initiations of Womanhood.
