Carolyn Hillyer

DANCER FOR LAMMAS. She has carefully placed beneath her meadow apron a scythe called Harvest Kiss. She is both the body burdened and the body filled. A sacrifice takes place where long shadows reach into the centre of the corn. Her dance is a renewal, cut down at peak to make the plenty; and she has far greater sacrificial gifts to bear. She dances as her memories enwrap the lazy hours: warm amber, golden grasses, and honey dipped with heady mountain thyme, the rich culmination of the Harvest.
