Evening workshop and roundhouse ceremony for women

Plant teacher ~ Napaquetzalli Martinez
Hearth keeper ~ Carolyn Hillyer
Shrine guardian ~ Gabrielle O’ConnelI

We are delighted to be arranging this very special evening workshop with Napaquetzalli, who will be travelling to Britain from the USA with the Bamboo Cedar Oak concert tour this summer. We have known Napa since she was a young girl and are honoured to be making a space for her to offer her herbalist, healing and shamanic work. Carolyn will be hosting this informal gathering, weaving drum and song into the workshop teachings being shared, which will include spiritual cleansing practices, flower essences and indigenous plant magic. Gabrielle will guide a pilgrimage here with a simple earth ritual and shrine honouring, so that Napaquetzalli’s plant magic teachings may be received and met by the wild land.

Napaquetzalli Martinez is an indigenous healer and herbalist of Yaqui/Purepecha descent. She grew up in Southern California in a family of artists devoted to their ancestral practices. Being raised in a ceremonial way of life, Napa has always been deeply in tune to her intuitive connection to spirit and nature. Napa studied curanderismo and indigenous healing through the Ancestral Apothecary School (California) and trained with renowned traditional healer Doña Enriqueta Contreras in Oaxaca, Mexico. She is a co-founder of Curanderas Sin Fronteras, a collective that provides wellness services to Latin-American communities. She has also studied Western herbalism and worked for many years in herbal apothecaries as a clinical herbalist and teacher. Since 2022, Napaquetzalli wrote a magazine column called Ask A Witch, sharing guidance for spiritual healing and ancestral connection. Napaquetzalli is committed to helping people reconnect to intuitive and ancestral knowledge as a source of guidance. Her practice is rooted in self-healing as a method to decolonize our relationships to the earth, our bodies and each other. For more information visit napaquetzalli.com
