RIVENSTONE
2007
Sacred World Music Festival on Dartmoor
Rivenstone
Festival 2007 was a great success. We were blessed with
one of the first warm and bright weekends of the summer
and a glorious full moon.
The event raised over £800 for Survival International
from donations and sales. Unfortunately the Haida tribal
dancers & carvers from west coast Canada did not reach
Rivenstone as their car was stolen during their journey
from the islands and they lost passports, tickets, and money
as well as traditional dance costumes and regalia. Although
they were deeply sad not to be able to attend, generous
donations from the Rivenstone audience and musicians plus
other fundraising activities meant we were able to send
over £1000 towards their losses as well as many gifts
and messages of support. The latest news is that a letter
written by the Rivenstone organisation on behalf of the
musicians, presenters and participants, and sent to the
airline company in support of the Haida group has resulted
in the reimbursment of some part of their flight expenses,
for which we would like to extend our thanks. We hope that
Ralph Stocker and his group wll be able to travel to the
UK at a future time to share their ancient island culture.
Below
are some the photos taken during Rivenstone 2007. We would
like to thank Chris Chapman, Sue Murphy and Claire &
Matt Tinnyunt for the use of these images. We will adding
to this gallery over the next few weeks.
Editing
of the Rivenstone film has begun with a view to releasing
the DVD during the summer 2008.
