With this work Nigel was starting to work intensively with traditional wooden flutes and created this recording based on the pure beauty and strength of cedar, rosewood and banyan flutes, wrapped with layers of sound from bells, gongs, gentle keyboard and soft voices.

The four movements describe the solitary and ancient nature of wild landscape, an elemental cycle and the slow dance of wind and weather across the granite hills as they flow seamlessly from one to another. The simplicity of the flute, sitting amid more complex and dynamic music arrangements, carries something of the mystery of sacred land.
