As part of the Shamanic Lands weekend Carolyn and Nigel will present a magical evening of delicate sounds, deep drums, watery ritual, powerful songs, prayer chants, river stories and dynamic dancing rhythms spun from granite and streams. The rivers that flow high in the landscape are often amber hued, a rich tea of peaty earth and iron rocks. These rivers are the most remote and wildest waters of the landscape; the birthing place that feeds the oceans, the dying place that receives the returning salmon and the vessel for ancestral tales of hidden flows of magic that seep and rush beneath the ground. All this Nigel and Carolyn will catch inside their instruments and songs, braiding together wooden and bones flutes, salmon and deer and wild horse drums, river rattles and dark mountain pipes, as well as piano, Jura guitar and other traditional sounds. They will perform music from new and recent albums including work to be released later this year.
This concert is open to all.
