DUBBLEHEAD

The Rabbit Hole.
Nigels latest dance project with original Global member,
Tom Brooks. Uplifting dub/ska/reggae and dance electronica.
Alslo with Ed Brooks (drums and perc), Leaf Hillyer (guitar
and electronics), Johnny O'Rouke (trumpet).
JULY
A
VERY SPECIAL EVENT...
In
July we present the Silver Deer Tour with
Tatyana Lar, traditional singer from the
nomadic Nenet people of Western Siberia. The concerts will
feature the songs of the Nenet reindeer herding tribes combined
with the ancient music and songs of Nigel Shaw and Carolyn
Hillyer, plus workshops with Tatyana and film footage of
traditional Nenet life on the Arctic tundra.

THE NENET OF SIBERIA
Tatyana LaR will share her ancient culture, songs, traditions
and spirit stories (assisted by Carolyn, Nigel and Russian
translator Ruslan Alikulov). She will teach some Nenet songs
including Numd Hynumd (Prayer to Great Noom). In
a time when northern tribes are fighting to preserve their
lands and culture from global commercial exploitation even
as they witness the diminishing of Arctic ice, this is a
valuable opportunity to learn about Yamal and its people.

A very special day of events at Lower Merripit
Farm, Postbridge...
Women of the Silver Deer workshop with
Carolyn Hillyer and Tatyana Lar
A unique chance to explore and xperience the culture and
stories of Siberian nomadic women, learning Nenet songs
with Tatyana, making traditional women;s craft and sharing
our own offerings of song an ritual to honour our Siberian
sisters ( we now will be joined by another Nenets woman,
Oksana Knariuchi). 10am-4pm ~ £55 (including vegetarian
lunch)

Yaptik / Tundra
Two films by independant Russian directors featuring the
culture of the Siberian Nenet tribe and nomadic life on
the Arctic tundra. Film showing from 5.30pm ~ included in
evening ticket.

An evening with Nigel Shaw, Carolyn Hillyer and Tatyana
Lar
Concert starts 8pm ~ evening ticket £15 ~ tented venue
(bring rug or cushion)

The day workshop is a women's event but all other evening
ticket holders are welcome to arrive from 5pm onwards. Meadows,
woods, gardens, shrines and roundhouse open for wandering
adn peaceful enjoyment. Vegetarian dinner plus bar and other
refreshments will be provided by the amazing FOOD
GROOVE CAFE

Roundhouse flute songs combined with a
circle of Carolyn's songs inspired by flame and
copper. A concert to honour our ancestral hearth
fires, the burnished melodies of life and the illuminating
drums.

WILD
HILLS: Symphony and Song ~
Concerts to honour Dartmoor
This
autumn sees the beginning of a new programme of concerts
by Nigel and Carolyn featuring music deeply rooted in the
wild and sacred Dartmoor landscape. The concerts will include
the first performances from Nigel's new work DARTMOOR
SYMPHONY (the third album in his Dartmoor
collection) as well as a richly-textured mix of songs and
instrumental compositions created by Carolyn and Nigel during
their many years within the misted hills and hidden valleys
of the moors. There will be a full orchestral premiere of
the Dartmoor Symphony during 2010. The concerts feature
film visuals of this extraordinary landscape from the new
DVD that accompanies this album (filmed by Chris Chapman,
produced by Nigel Shaw).
